PepsiCo will reset emissions up to 2040
The PepsiCo, which accelerates the efforts of building a stronger and sustainable food system, aims to reduce absolute greenhouse gas emissions over 40 percent across the value chain, and plans to increase the science-based climate target more than two times. The company also promised that the net zero emissions will be reached until 2040 years ago, which was prescribed in the Paris Agreement.
No other option from the skin and aggressive action]
PepsiCo plans to reduce the absolute greenhouse gas emissions by 75 percent and indirect operations in direct operations up to 2030 (based on 2015). This action is expected to be equivalent to the reduction of more than 26 million metric tons of greenhouse gas emissions, or the removal of more than five million cars for a year. PepsiCo Chairman and CEO Ramon Laguarta said that climate change increases the severity of its effects; “We must speed up urgent systemic changes to solve this problem. Climate action is the basis of our business as one of the leading food and beverage companies in the world. PepsiCo adds speed to our positive journey to provide positive results for planet and people. Our strong climate goal is to guide us in a difficult but very critical journey. There is no option from emergency and aggressive action. [
PepsiCo’s action plan focuses on a stronger defense against the effects of it by continuing to reduce greenhouse gas emissions to carbonize both operations and supply chain and incorporate climate change subject into business continuity plans.. In Europe, since 2015, the total emission will focus on primary areas such as agriculture, packaging, distribution and operations with a new and comprehensive emission reduction plan.
