Sustainable Development Policies of the Business World
In these conditions, the appropriate environment to provide the private sector with the establishment of legal/organized regulations and application schemes of the public segment, is expected to take place by the most business world of applications at the point of integration with the sector policies of sustainable development in Turkey. From this point, the participation of the business world in sustainable development applications is important to develop/developing models and mechanisms.
One of the main objectives of the World Summit of Johannesburg, 2002, has been involved in sustainable development works of business world and industry. In line with the decisions made out of the Summit, it is observed that in Turkey, with new perspectives of the private sector with the key actors of sustainable development, many studies have started or improved in this field. While the Turkish business world provides economic sustainability in the sector on one hand and operates at increasing national and international competitiveness and production power in the framework of new global conditions, it started to be included in new applications with environmental and social responsibility understanding.
In the context of environmental responsibilities; different applications in the production technologies and waste management, selected for the adoption of environmentally sensitive approaches in private sector firms, were started to be integrated with contemporary “Environment Management Systems” company management Tags. In Turkey, the number of enterprises applying ISO 14001 Environmental Management System, EMAS-Environment Management and Supervision System, Eko- Tag and ISO 9001 Quality Management Systems is increasing steadily. The environmental management systems in question provide efficient and efficient use of energy, water and other raw materials resources in the production, minimizing wastes in the source and reused when possible, especially in SMEs, environmental resources are also more responsive. [
For example, in the industry sector, the establishment of ISO 14001 environmental management system in the energy-related facilities will provide planned and programmed continuous development of environmental performance Tags. With this system, it will be possible to reduce existing or potential environmental risks more systematically and reduce costs when the resources can be used more rationally.
