1.5 trillion dollar health burden of plastic
A new global assessment reveals that plastics are not only the environment, but also seriously threaten human health. According to the report published in The Lancet magazine, plastic production increased by 200 times since 1950 and this increase has become a crisis affecting the health of people from all ages from babies to older.
Ciddi leads to health problems]
The report states that the annual cost of health damage associated with plastic is at least 1.5 trillion dollars. In particular, it is taken into account that the contact with plastic from the prenatal period leads to serious health problems such as low birth weight, early birth, maternity defects, childhood cancers and infertility in advanced ages. Plastics enters the body every way
Micro and nano plastics; enters the body through water, food and air. These particles were now detected in blood, mother milk, brain tissue, bone marrow, even placenta and menstruation. The researchers note that these particles may be linked to ailments such as heart attacks and strokes, and they are calling ‘coming approach’ because they are not fully known on health.
Back conversion solution not
Although the petrochemical industry defends recycling as a solution, this approach does not find enough. Plastics can not be easily recycled, such as glass, paper or metal due to complex chemicals contained. Moreover, only 10 percent of plastic waste across the world can be recycled; the remaining part is mixed or burned into nature, causing air pollution.
No compromise is growing
]The United Nations negotiations that are maintained for a global agreement against the plastic crisis are blocked due to the countries arising from production restriction. The report is highlighted that the binding rules for reducing production will provide an effective solution for both environmental and human health.
