100% recycled plastic blanket from Emirates
The Emirates blankets manufactured from 100 percent recycled plastic using ecoTHREADTM patented technology are used in all Economy Class night flights.
Each Emirates ecoTHREADTM blanket is produced from 28 recycled bottles. Plastic parts are recycled by creating polar fabric before yarn from bottles. Then it touches as soft blanket. ecoTHREADTM blankets are certified with Intertek Green Leaf Mark, as the test and certification body is independently proven by Intertek, which uses 100% recycled materials.
As of the end of 2019, Emirates aims to save 88 million plastic bottles from nature thanks to ecoTHREADTM blankets. This figure corresponds to the weight of 44 A380 aircraft. The production process of recycled polyethylene terephthalate (PET) reduces energy absorption 70 percent.
