The Intergovernmental Climate Change Panel (IPCC President) Jim Skea said that the global temperature rise can reach 3 degrees at the end of this century if existing policies continue. Skea, particularly considering the potential of renewable energy sources in emissions reduction, expressed that wind and solar energy offers low-cost alternatives and reduces approximately 7 percent of global greenhouse gas emissions. Skea also noted that reduction of methane emissions from fossil fuels can provide significant benefits in the short run.

G20’s climate financing message
The message of G20’s climate finance is remarkable that COP29 should be identified concrete target on climate financing for successful results. Simon Stiell, Secretary of the UN Climate Change, stated that the G20 leaders have a call for negotiations in Baku; “Do not leave the peak without a new financial goal”. Hoekstra, referring to EU’s goals, has announced they aimed to significantly reduce emissions by 2035, especially with renewable energy investments and energy efficiency increase. This goal shows that the EU is in a more ambitious NDC plan preparation to adapt to a 1.5 degree of warming limit and highlights the EU’s leadership role in emissions reduction in COP29.

Support from Greenpeace to UK]
Greenpeace UK Senior Political Advisor Rebecca Newsom stressed the importance of this move in terms of the climate diploma of the country by assessing the participation of England to COFFIS positively.
