The President of the TEMA Foundation Executive Board, which emphasizes that the change of hope is not only the world, but also a close topic of Turkey, “We started to feel the impact of climate change with extreme climate events in the summer of the year. There are different effects that can be considered like this. Today we see crisis associated with the water that arises with climate change. Disruption of plant cover, soil, rivers and lakes increases the severity and effect of floods, drought, water pollution. When we neglect our ecosystems, we make it difficult to access the water we need to survive and improve. Nature-based solutions have the potential to solve many water issues. In this context, creation of new forests, reconnecting the beds of the rivers and improving wetlands will rebalance the water cycle and affect life positive. However, in 2016, we implemented the Map of Threats for Turkey’s Water Assets with the valuable support of our citizens’ science method and volunteers. Our Volunteers have identified 100 cases in 50 provinces. But unfortunately there are many different water assets that are facing threats and have not yet been documented with this study. We invite everyone to be participating in the detection of other water assets under threat and updating the map. Thank you for our representatives and volunteers who contribute to the map.
