Green areas for fighting climate change
The Alarko Carrier, who care for sustainability, has made a comprehensive climate literacy research. In order to attract attention to climate awareness in our country and to provide solutions for this, the research was conducted by Twentify for 1261 people who provide regional and socio-demographic representation.
Our mind is high, our technical knowledge is insufficient]
In the research that both knowledge and awareness levels of the climate are measured, it turned out that there is a serious idea of the source and solution methods of the matter where the society experiences directly. A large majority of society shows the destruction of forestry areas at the beginning of factors that lead to climate changes. In addition, as a result of climate change, disasters such as floods, storms are thought to reduce agricultural products. It is observed that the level of information on more technical concepts such as counter greenhouse gas release, carbon footprint or international climate agreements are not enough. 25 percent of people living in Turkey do not have an idea of greenhouse gas, while this rate comes from 37 percent in the concept of carbon footprint, Paris Treaty covering climate change, 69 percent at the point of international agreements such as Kyoto Protocol. [
Great worries about change][
Questions about the concerns arising from climate change impact on participants in the research. 87 percent of our people think that climate changes are concerned about the impact of future generations, 87 percent of them will experience the problem of thirst in the future. It is thought that infections and epidemic diseases will increase in the exhaustion of water resources. The increase of fires states that there are no agricultural resources and concerns such as disruption of the ecosystem are also highlighted, as a result of which the participants will be negatively affected by the economy and tourism. Another data that pays attention to the results of the research was that a majority of 73 percent had not received the measures required against climate problems. Where do you know about ‘How do you get information?’ question is mainly considered ‘televisiondan’ and ‘social media’ response.
The biggest responsible human
Based on research; It is believed that the largest controller of climate change is human factor. As the main sources that cause climate change, wastes spilled on the seas, gas emitted from factories to the atmosphere, excessive consumption, palpitation, and human-source elements that cause intense use of substances that harm nature such as plastic. Individual measures required to be taken are indicated to increase green areas, to perform activities for recycling and to take care of recycled products.
]"Our work will continue"
]
Cem Akan, Managing Director General of Alarko Carrier, has taken care of the importance of the knowledge and awareness in this regard by mentioning the climate change that our country and the world is directly affected by. Akan said: "As an Alarko Carrier, we tried to measure the level of climate literacy and figure out how the level of information on climate in our country is perceived as well as conceptual topics. After this research, we begin to operate a number of activities that will contribute to the level of climate literacy with our approach. We skipped the first step by obtaining this precious data. In the coming period, we will raise the level of information in the climate of all of us and implement projects in order to increase our awareness on the environmental impacts of our individual or corporate every step. We plan to work with local governments and municipalities. We will try to pay attention to the social media that we spend intensive time in the day and the subject of climate in any media. "

"Eko-Anxis have a brand new problem called "]
As a result of the effects of climate change, Cem Akan said that the concept of a new fear in humans was revealed: "Our English is Eco-anxiety, and we have a new problem that can be translated as ‘eko-anxiyete’ to Turkish. A growing concern as it started to experience the effects of climate crisis. 1.5oC Global Warming Private Report, prepared by examining scientific work on Intergovernmental Climate Change Panel (IPCC) 6000 reveals a very important data. If greenhouse gas emissions continue to exist, global warming will pass 1.5oC limit between 2030 and 2052. This means a irreversible point for our world. "
