Green Campus Hamle from METU
METU North Cyprus Kampusu is step by step towards the Green Kampus destination, which was put two years ago. As of the end of 2017 with the actions taken in Kampus, METU North Cyprus Kampusu, aiming to save at least 10 percent of energy in line with the values of 2012. In parallel with this goal, the energy source carbon dioxide emission used in Kampus is also predicted at least 10 percent reduction.

1 year ago, the 60 meter high measurement pole for wind speed measurements to be used in electrical generation works and completed the installation of the required measuring system, the METU North Cyprus Kampusu aims to avoid excessive water consumption with simple mechanisms that facilitate pressure adjustment by the user in the shower batteries. Thanks to improvements, up to 10 cubic meters of water saving in summer days, 5 kW-hour electricity saving is provided depending on energy consumption to minimize water pumps. This savings means less than 1.3 kg of fossil fuel in KKTC thermal power plants and 4 kg of carbon dioxide per day. [

The Green Campus Initiative Energy Team, created in Kampus, has conducted many studies in accordance with the strategic plan with the contributions of the METU North Cyprus Kampusu Energy Community. All campus buildings are passed through energy flow, heating/cooling and electrical system data were created and losses were detected in order to guide the projects in the future periods.. In the lighting system, the mechanical ballasts, as it can reduce energy usage from 30 percent to 30 percent, the lamp has been moved to electronic ballasts, which increases its life by 20 percent and is faster activated. Improvements in the hospitality provided by 270 kW-hour electricity per year are able to reduce the carbon dioxide release by saving 65 kg fuel in thermal power plants produced by electricity.
