25-28 November 2012, held in Antalya, 2012 Mediterranean Sea Protection Areas Forum is carried out by joint organizations located in the Data Network (MedPAN) and WWF. The Forum aims to create a concrete plan for the effective management of the Sea Protection Areas in order to guarantee the protection of 10% of the Mediterranean until 2020. [
] Although it has been added about 7,000 km2 areas under protection since 2008, the Mediterranean only under 4% protection. This figure shows that in terms of sea biodiversity, “hot spot” are much more steps to be taken into the protection of areas.
]WWF-Akdeniz Marine Protection Program Manager Giuseppe Di Carlo invites governments to create more Sea Protection Area in the Mediterranean and support more those who have. Sea Protection Areas have stated that both sea resources are used in a sustainable form and is a tool to ensure the protection of biodiversity. WWF calls to protect the Mediterranean government leaders by increasing their responsibilities against the Sea Protection Areas in order to achieve 10% of its access to the signature campaign launched.. The details of the campaign, which enables the collection of signature on 22.000 in the last 4 months, will be shared with decision makers on the Sea Protection Areas Forum.
