[The subasar (longoz) forests of Needleada, one of the few examples of Turkey and Europe, were announced by the decision of the Council of Ministers 03/11/2007. With the decision published in the Official Gazette dated 13/11/2007, it was previously provided to combine various statuses such as the Natural Sit, Wildlife Protection Area and protected areas in separate parts of each other under the national parking umbrella in a wider area (3155 ha). With the contributions of WWF-Turkey, the number of national parks in Turkey reached 39, the total area of which they covered was 880 thousand hektara.
[[T]]WWF-Turkey (Natural Life Protection Foundation), works in Needleada within the framework of the GEF-II (Biodiversity and Natural Source Management) Project conducted by the Ministry of Environment and Forest. WWF-Turkey contributes to the preparation of plans related to the preservation, monitoring and sustainable natural resource use of biological diversity, has carried out educational studies for pilot applications and local people in order to improve local capacity in organic agriculture, non-wood forest products, livestock and grass. Currently, it is expected to contribute to the sustainable development of the region with nature-friendly activities such as water transfer to Istanbul, port project and serious threats. [ [Needleada, which has outstanding importance in terms of the pharmacological diversity and threatens an important part, is among the 122 important plant areas and 184 important bird areas of Turkey.
