“perfect” green building certification to the Business Bank

The ‘BREEAM In-Use’ certification accepted as an international standard for green building and environmental compliance was upgraded to the “perfect” level in 2014. BREEAM In-Use is presented with assessments made in energy, water, material, wastes, pollution, transportation, land use, building management and health headers.

The following headers in the upgrade of the certificate level are highlighted:

- Starting LED application in certain areas used in structure under energy efficiency
- Preparation of risk assessment report for building
- Reporting and improvement about disaster preparation and coordination
- Providing work safety training for building users[
- Making improvements to increase the ecological value of landscape areas outside the building
- Creation of bicycle parks [
- Starting from renewable energy sources of a part of energy need

Business Bank Deputy General Manager Levent Korba, highlighting that green building definition is used to identify buildings that respect nature in the building industry, reduce ecological, comfortable and energy consumption, “We started working for Green Building certification in 2013. Last year we achieved this certificate with ‘very good’ degree and we were the first Turkish bank in Turkey. This year, we have upgraded our certificate to the ‘perfect’ level.
