Fosil fuels will not be limited to 2060 years of release and passing to clean energy, but not only environmental benefits; but also will provide large gains in terms of energy safety of countries. According to the study published in Nature Climate Change magazine, this conversion reduces the energy risks connected to the trade by 19 percent. 236 countries and 1092 different net zero emission scenarios were analyzed in research. In each scenario, resources needed to meet the needs of energy were evaluated, risk analysis generated through countries and trade networks with these resources. The results obtained revealed that the steps to be taken in accordance with the clear zero targets are strategically advantageous.

Critical minerals instead of fuel in the barrel]
Minerals such as lithium, nickel, copper and rare earth elements create the lumbar of clean energy systems. However, the large part of these materials is concentrated in the Global South. This situation causes reshape of trade networks while shifting the energy production center from north to south. [

]A variety of trading risk
The researchers took the risk index of trading countries by considering the factors such as the presence of domestic resources, import rate and economic dependence. In case of the protection of existing networks, the risk is reduced by 19 percent, in the case of diversifying the supply resources of the countries, this decline rate approaches to 50 percent. The experts suggest that all resources in energy systems can give a large vulnerability to make dependent on a single country or region, increasing material savings, longer-life technologies and recycling rates. According to the study, if the recycling rates of materials such as lithium, nickel and indium exceed the current level of today’s, trading risks can be reduced by 17 percent. This is especially important in terms of energy safety of countries that are limited to natural resources.

Fosil reduces the safety of fuel mixture]
Prof. Steve Davis said, “A serious improvement in energy security of countries using various and sustainable resources, instead of internal fossil fuels”. The overall result of the study is quite clear: “The net minimizes the risk of trading in most countries in zero scenarios and the biggest improvements are experienced in countries that reduce fossil dependence.
