Franless National Science Research Center Research Manager Jean-Claude Gascard said that in the press conference organized, in the summer of 2007 there is a lot of big melt in the frosts in the North Ice Sea.
According to Gascard, indicating that the most important reason for this is global warming, it was about 4.13 million kilometers square, covered in the North Ice Sea of ice in the last September. This area was 5.3 million square kilometers in 2005. According to 2005, Gascard noted that the area covered by frosts decreases by 23 percent, the area covered by icelets decreases more than 1 million square kilometers per 2 years. [
Gascard reminded that the frosts in the North pole have no less than 40 percent in the last 20 years, the average ice thickness drops from 3 meters to 1.5 meters, and the melting period of ice is extended.
The vessel named Tara, who passed the North Ice Sea from the provinces, noted that the journey completed in a slightly longer than 16 months, with the ship called Gascard, Norwegian explorer Fridtjof Nansen's Fram, this journey was completed in 3 years at the end of the 19th century.
Gascard said that 2008 is very important in terms of the melting of the frosts, and this summer can melt 1 million kilometers of squarety iceul.
