The employment provided by the renewable energy sector in the world reaches 11.5 million as of the last year end, the solar energy that created 33 percent of this was the leading sector. According to the International Renewable Energy Agency (IRENA) Renewable Energy and Employment-Year Evaluation Report; employment in global renewable energy sector has consistently grown since 2012. According to the report; about 7.3 million people in 2012, when working in the renewable energy sector, this figure rises to 11.5 million in 2018, as of the last year end. Thus, more than 500 thousand people in the renewable energy sector in the world last year. 63 percent of this increase took place in Asian countries. China is ranked first with about 4.4 million jobs in renewable energy sector, Brazil 1.1 million, India 824 thousand and US 756 thousand people, among the leading countries of the sector.

Solar energy was ranked first in the renewable energy sector by creating 3.8 million of total employment. While China is the country that creates maximum employment in solar energy with 2.2 million, Japan, USA, India and Bangladesh followed this country. While watching the bioenergy sector with 3.5 million employment, Brazil, Indonesia, USA, Colombia and Thailand are ranked as the first five countries that provide maximum employment in this industry. In hydroelectricity, while employing 2 million people in the world, China, India and Brazil provided 59 percent of employment in this area. Turkey, with about 40 thousand employment in the hydroelectric energy sector (in the earth 2), it was eighth country that creates maximum work in this field. The global wind energy sector is a business gateway to 1.2 million people, China has provided 44 percent of this employment alone. China watched Germany, USA, India and United Kingdom. Approximately 900 thousand geothermal energy, heating and cooling in total reaching 11.5 million. On the other hand, 32 percent of employees in global renewable energy sector created women.
